The Texas Farm Bureau endorsed Cornyn (not Paxton) in this primary, which is itself a strong signal of agriculture-establishment alignment. Their values: agricultural trade access (anti-tariff), farm labor access (which requires some legal-immigration pathway), water rights, property rights, rural-healthcare access, opposition to estate tax. Cornyn fits the TFB framework substantially well: USMCA-and-anti-broadest-tariffs (huge for Texas cotton, beef, dairy), H-2A skilled-agricultural-labor support, water-rights and property-rights record, the rural-emergency-hospital legislation, and the estate-tax repeal framework. This is one of his strongest Texas-specific grader fits. Talarico wins on tariff repeal (huge for Texas ag), rural investment, rural hospitals, and immigration reform with ag-labor pathways. He loses on estate tax, minimum-wage implications for ag wages, and general regulatory expansion.
