Modern Pentecostal Church
Modern Pentecostal/charismatic evangelical political identity centers abortion, traditional marriage, school prayer and Ten Commandments displays, Christian-focused religious liberty, school choice, Second Amendment, and secure borders. Cornyn hits most planks: NRLC 100% lifetime pro-life rating, religious-liberty protection record, school-choice support, and secure-borders posture. But two of the Pentecostal-tradition's most-emphasized markers — the Respect for Marriage Act vote and the BSCA gun-safety negotiation — are exactly the votes Paxton has used to attack Cornyn from the right in this primary, and they put real distance between Cornyn and the most aggressive Pentecostal-aligned political movement. He earns Pentecostal credit for personal-conduct integrity that Paxton's record undercuts. Talarico is a sincere Christian publicly, which earns something, and he opposes book bans that would remove the Bible. But he supports abortion access, IVF, LGBTQ rights, marijuana legalization, opposes Ten Commandments mandates and chaplaincy laws, and explicitly campaigns against Christian Nationalism — the movement this grader is part of.
